Macao Museum (Museu de Macau, 澳門博物館) details the history of Macau and is built on the site where the former Meteorological Service was located.
The museum has 3 levels (2 of which are underground).
Level 1: Genesis of the Macao Region
- The history of Macau and the cultures of China and Portugal
Level 2: Popular Arts and Traditions in Macau
- Traditional festivals, religious ceremonies and aspects of popular art and traditions
Level 3: Contemporary Macau
- Contemporary aspects of city life and how Macau has been portrayed in art and literature
Although I’ve been up to Monte Fort a number of times – I’ve never actually ventured into the Museum yet (on my list for the next visit to Macau).
Getting There
The museum is located on the hill of Monte Fort (a short walk up from the Ruins of St Paul’s in the historic centre of Macau)
